For
most people who love wine, there is one experience that began their
passion for fine wine. Our's began with a bottle of ’79 Silver Oak,
Alexander Valley that Dan's brother gave to us as a wedding gift. We
opened the bottle one evening to accompany Kaori’s famous Osso Bucco
and we fell in love with it. That experience along with many that
followed, eventually inspired us to try the "Grand Winery Experiment".
Dan
first started making wine with grapes from Paso Robles, Ca with
members of the Friday Afternoon Wine Group (FAWG). There were some hit
and miss vintages but the experience was valuable. After having our
first daughter, Madison, we decided to move to the Seattle area and
discovered the wonderful wines that are now being made in Washington.
In
January of 2004, Dan met Dave Stephenson of Stephenson Cellars at the
Washington Association of Wine Grapes Growers annual convention. They
became quick friends and conversation soon centered around the
possibility of starting Crutcher Family Cellars. Through much help
from Dave, several months later the licensing nightmare was complete
and we had our first wine in barrel.
Our
wines are designed to accompany a meal and we feel strongly that meals
should be enjoyed as a family. We hope that before each meal, you will
hold up a glass of Crutcher Family Cellars wine and say a toast to
your family and friends.
Cheers,
Dan, Kaori, Madison and Lauren Crutcher.
